Process: Descaling Lelit Espresso Machine (PL81T / PL91T)

Frequency: Every 2–3 Months (or when resin filter expires)
Machine: Lelit Grace PL81T / Victoria PL91T

⚠️ CAUTION: Add ONLY natural descaling products into the water tank to avoid damaging internal components. Never use aggressive chemicals[cite: 1].

🛠️ Required Items

  • Natural descaling solution (liquid or powder suitable for brass boilers)[cite: 1].
  • Large catch container (at least 1.5L capacity).
  • Fresh filtered water[cite: 1].

📝 Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Preparation

  1. Turn off the machine and allow it to cool down[cite: 1].
  2. Remove the water tank and remove the Lelit Resin Filter (MC747) if one is attached to the intake pipe[cite: 1].
  3. Fill the water tank with room-temperature water and add the correct dosage of natural descaling agent according to product package instructions[cite: 1].
  4. Reinsert the water tank, ensuring intake tubes are not bent[cite: 1].
  5. Place a large container under both the group head and the multi-directional steam/hot water wand[cite: 1].

Step 2: Descaling Cycle

  1. Press the Main Power Switch (2) to switch on the machine[cite: 1].
  2. Flush Group Head: Press the Coffee Switch (3) and run ~250ml of solution through the coffee group[cite: 1]. Press switch (3) again to stop[cite: 1].
  3. Flush Steam Wand: Press the Hot Water Switch (5), turn the Steam/Water Knob (11) counterclockwise, and dispense ~250ml through the wand[cite: 1]. Turn knob clockwise and press switch (5) to stop[cite: 1].
  4. Turn off the main power and let the solution rest inside the boiler for 15 minutes to dissolve scale deposits[cite: 1].
  5. Turn power back on and repeat steps 2 & 3 until the reservoir is empty[cite: 1].

Step 3: Rinse Cycle

  1. Remove water tank, rinse thoroughly, and fill with fresh cold water[cite: 1].
  2. Flush the entire reservoir through the group head and steam wand to clear all residual descaler[cite: 1].
  3. Reinstall or replace the Lelit resin filter into the tank intake tube[cite: 1].
  4. Refill tank with fresh water and resume normal use[cite: 1].
